Decompaction Service
Our Decompaction is a specialized service for double-coated breeds such as Newfoundlands, Pomeranians, Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, Huskies, and similar coat types when the undercoat has become packed, tight, or matted beneath the top coat. This process requires extra time, multiple bathing and drying steps, and careful manual coat work to safely loosen and remove impacted undercoat while protecting the health of the coat whenever possible.
Because decompaction can be physically strenuous for the dog, this service is completed based on your dog’s age, health, coat condition, and comfort level. In severe cases where the coat is too tightly matted to safely remove, shaving may be necessary as a last resort, but we always prioritize preserving double coats whenever it is safe and humane to do so.
